Malke & Oberländer
1905
With the Fortuna Duplex Music Box No. 435, Malke & Oberländer created a music box of unsurpassed qualities supporting an unprecedented playtime of 4 minutes in soft, yet full and warm sound quality.
Friedrich E. Malke and Friedrich H. Oberländer founded Malke & Oberländer in 1895, renaming it „Adler Fabrik deutsch-amerikanische Musikwerke Schlobach, Malke & Oberländer“ in the following year. Located in Leipzig, Germany, the company produced a wide array of disc-style music boxes ranging from table, to hanging, to free-standing models.
sourcesThe Fortuna Duplex Music Box is a large duplex version of the popular Adler/Fortuna No. 370 Music Box. Contrary to the No. 370 only a few of the Fortuna Duplex Music Boxes were made.
With two discs placed side-by-side it is able to play a full two minutes with two tunes running simultaneously and a full four minutes when playing a single one.
