technique

This helicoidal music box features one cylinder with all pins arranged on a continuous spiral.

The need for shifting from one cylinder to another to another has been eliminated here as the cylinder is screw-fed and slowly and continuously moves to the side in synchronization with the pins. Such an arrangement proved to be ideal for playing long overtures.
